What Can Alternative Medicine Do for Psoriasis?

There are many alternative medicines and therapies such as creams, diets, herbs and dietary supplements that can be used in the treatment of psoriasis. It’s true that all alternative therapies are not equally effective, but there are some alternative medicines that are usually considered to be very safe and can prove useful in reducing symptoms such as scaling and itching.

  • Capsaicin cream: Capsaicin cream, which is obtained from chili pepper by extraction, can be used to decrease the severity of psoriasis and ease itching by applying it several times on the areas that are affected. You may feel some sort of burning sensation when you apply it for first few times. Also remember to wash the hands after using it and keep the cream away from your eyes.
  • Aloe Vera cream: This cream, extracted from the leaves of the plant of Aloe Vera, when applied many times a day for one to two months can reduce itching, redness, inflammation and scaling.
  • Fish oil: Supplements containing fish oil can help to decrease inflammation that is connected with psoriasis.

It is important to consult your doctor before taking any alternative medicine as he can inform you about the advantages and disadvantages of these therapies.
