Psoriasis is a skin disorder that affects varied parts of the body like arms, legs, elbows, genitals and scalp. This disease is chronic in form and is typically signified with the appearance of silvery scales and oval to circular shaped red plaques that cause burning as well as itching sensation. These patches are a result of severe reactions that take place due to an abnormal multiplication of the cells. Unfortunately, this disorder is non-curable and above all, persists for a long period of time.

The precise cause of this disease is yet to be discovered. However, the doctors blame the occurrence of the combination of factors like genetic changes and environmental changes as the trigger of this disease. Secondly, this disease spreads through the law of inheritance among the members of the same family. Among many people, disorders in the immune system also lead to the development of this disease.

This disease appears in different forms in different parts of the body. On the surface of the skin of visible organs like lower back, elbow etc, the disorder appears like large and thick plaques of raised skin and red patches. On the genital areas, the symptoms of this disease may appear in form of red patches as well as painful ulcers. On the nails, it may appear like small pits and sometimes, brown colored separations.
