Can high blood pressure medicine cause psoriasis?

Beta blockers like Inderal or propranol are recommended for high blood pressure or hypertension. Studies have shown that Inderal can actually exacerbate psoriasis. The results are prominent in almost one-third of the total population who has been infected with psoriasis. Moreover the high blood pressure medicines have also prompted the outbreak of psoriasis in people who were never previously affected by this disease. It has been noticed that beta blockers are responsible for reducing the amount of blood which is pumped out by the heart at each stroke.

As a result a fall in blood flow is noticed in body tissues which will affect both muscles and skin. Even though the body may become tolerant to such conditions, there are times when it may affect the system. They can cause a lot of disturbances like skin rashes like psoriasis may flare up, and doctors have noticed that psoriasis has worsened with the use of high blood pressure medicines. If you are taking a high blood pressure medicine, you should clearly mention it to the doctor. He will be the best person to know whether you should continue it when medications for psoriasis are on. A skin specialist will always note down the details about your drug history before prescribing any new medicines.
