Is Psoriasis A Chronic Condition?

Psoriasis is a skin disease. This skin disorder includes excessive production of skin cells. This leads to the formation of red raised areas on the body. The rate of psoriasis is out of fifty adults one adult is affected by it.

The effect of psoriasis normally starts in the age ranging from 15 to 25 years. After that it continuously becomes chronic condition and the person has to suffer with it for remaining period of his life. Chronic psoriasis can even lead to severe psychological distress. The only good thing about the disease is it is noncontiguous that is it will not spread from one person to another just by touch. Cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking increases the risk of skin disorder leading to chronic psoriasis conditions. Excessive reproduction of skin cells and disorder of immune system are the cause for psoriasis. Improper functioning of T cells of the immune system causes inflammation and over production of skin cells.

The reason as why T cells cause inflammation is still unknown. Presently there is no cure for psoriasis but some treatment such as exposure to synthetic vitamin D will help in slowing down the skin growth production.
