Erythrodermic psoriasis is a condition in which there is severe inflammation on the skin and this spreads over the whole body. This condition is very serious because inflammation of skin results in loss of fluid and protein. Loss of fluid and protein can lead to serious health ailments.
Erythrodermic psoriasis normally develops in people who are already the patients of psoriasis. It is not seen among the people who don’t have psoriasis history. It combines with pustular psoriasis to make the condition more chronic.
When there is severe itching and redness on your skin along with fever, swelling of ankles and skin shedding you must seek medical attention because this might be erythrodermic psoriasis. Erythrodermic psoriasis affects skin of the entire body. But it also creates complications like infection in skin, dehydration, risk of cardiac problems, hypothermia etc. It also leads to a condition in which there is leakage of fluid from the blood vessels. This thing can cause problem to the patient’s lung.
This may be due to sudden stoppage of psoriasis treatment. It might also develop as a side effect of the medicines used to treat psoriasis. Allergy or sunburns are also the probable causes of erythrodermic psoriasis.
