Benefits of Folic Acid with Psoriasis

Millions of Americans have been affected with a persistent inflammation of their skin known as psoriasis. However, there is not a cure. Unfortunately, there are some different lifestyle options, such as stress management, regular exercising, topical medicines, and a healthy diet that is rich in antioxidant nutrients, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acid to help reduce the risk of a flare up and pain.

Studies have shown that people that are battling psoriasis tend to have an increasing homocysteine level, due to the amino acids that are generally found within a person’s bloodstream. When a person’s levels are elevated this will increase their risk of having a heart disease. When a person that has psoriasis begins to take folic acid this helps to decrease and regulate the homocysteine levels.

There are several foods that contain folic acid such as you breads, cereal, beans, and green, leafy veggies. So, if you have psoriasis, be sure that you diet contains some of these types of foods.
