Are there Foods that can make Psoriasis Worse?

It is often said that people who have bad diet habits will have much more worse symptoms of psoriasis than those with good diet. There are many foods that are considered to be triggers for psoriasis, such as red meat, oily foods, spicy foods, tomatoes, red wine, berries, MSG, soda, vitamin C and acidic foods. It is also recommended to have diet that contains fewer amounts of fat and sugar. Given below is the relation between psoriasis and some of the foods that you should avoid in your diet.

Relation between Psoriasis and Dairy: In many cases it has been observed that dairy products meddle with the digestive system and adversely affects the immune system of a person leading to severe psoriasis. Hence it is suggested to avoid the consumption of large quantities of cheese, milk or yogurt.

Relation between Psoriasis and Alcohol: Alcohol, it is believed, interferes with the traditional treatments of psoriasis and reduces their effectiveness. Therefore, a person suffering from psoriasis should stay away from alcohol as much as possible.

If possible, maintain a food diary and make a note of all the foods that you think are potential triggers for psoriasis. Eliminate them and see if there is any positive effect on the symptoms.
