There is no sure shot way of treating psoriasis. There is not even a guarantee that it will be cured. The treatment will depend on the seriousness of the diseases. There exists following ways of treating psoriasis:
Topical therapy: It directly deals with the skin. This therapy is good during if you are facing mild to medium level of itching sensation. It is one of the initial efforts in area and it can reduce the amount of itching and can also reduce the inflammation of the skin. Here, the affected skin is applied with ointment and lotion.
Light therapy: It has been observed that the UV rays acts as the suppressant to the T cells which are a cause of the psoriasis. Thus, in light therapy, the affected area is operated with the UV rays in right proportion to kill these T cells. The 2 main forms of light therapies are UV rays and the PUVA.
Systematic therapy: As a last report, doctors move to systematic therapy. When both the above therapies fail, the patient is administered with drugs. This can be fed orally or by injecting the medicine in to the body. But a word of caution here, these medicines can have side effects. |
