What Symptoms does Psoriasis Have?

Psoriasis as a surface skin disease has obvious symptoms. However, it is recommended that one does not self diagnose by means of having a checklist of symptoms. If one feels that there is something unusual with his or her skin condition, he or she should go to the doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. Do not ever attempt to make self diagnosis.
Psoriasis has the following symptoms:

  1. Recurring rashes- These rashes seem to come back with no apparent reason. It will also take them long time to fade.
  2. Appearance of red patches- These patches are ‘raised’, red and usually itchy.
  3. Appearance of scales- Scales covers the red patches. These are usually white or gray.
  4. Inflammation of the skin- The skin feels inflamed and is usually painful.
  5. Cracked skin- There are break-outs over the patches of the red rash.
  6. Nail rash- Nails appear to break with splits, cracks and are usually abnormal in growth.
  7. Scalp rash- rashes that are often mistaken as dandruff.
